Color-matching systems such as Pantone® and other international color reference standards are used for the design of printing motifs. Since these color systems were originally developed for printing processes such as offset or coating, it is often difficult to reproduce them on colored substrates. In order to maximize the opacity and brilliance of its color shades, Marabu developed the color range “System 21” with 21 basic shades. Many ink types are still supplied in these shades. To meet the important demand for brilliance, Marabu developed a new ink system with brilliant color shades and opacity: System Maracolor for solventbased ink types – System Ultracolor for UV-curable ink types. In the Ink Characteristics Table (see insert) you will find details showing which ink system relates to each ink type. Please ask your Marabu distributor for color charts.

SYSTEM MARACOLOR

This color range for solvent-based ink types includes 17 basic shades that can be mixed with each other according to requirements. This ensures an optimal reproduction of virtually any popular color-matching system for color design. System Maracolor is used for all new ink types. Some existing types have already been changed to the new color range.

SYSTEM ULTRACOLOR

This system is designed for UV-curable ink types. For technical reasons, these inks are generally mono-pigmented to facilitate UV-curing.

The new UV color range has therefore been restricted to 13 basic shades. These are marked with a “U” after the shade name (see color chart below). These inks can be mixed with each other and meet all the high technical standards of each individual industry.
